Our Family Water & Pump Services Story
In 1979, Reid Mullis and his wife, Martha Sloop Mullis, formed the Reid Mullis Well and Pump Service, Inc., which is now Gopher Utility Services, Inc. Both are lifelong residents of Kannapolis, NC, and the couple used the company to provide well drilling, pump work, and commercial electrical services for their customers. Reid, a second-generation well-drilling contractor, began work on the back of his father’s well-drilling rig when he was seven years old. Over the years,
Reid and Martha’s business transitioned to a broader base by adding municipal water and sewer services and industrial and commercial electrical and instrumentation for SCADA work. Reid holds electrical, well drilling, and pump installation certification with the State of North Carolina.
Since 1984, Reid has maintained electrical, well drilling, and pump installation certification from the state of North Carolina, transitioning his original company to its current form along with his brother, Edwin, and sons, Benjamin and Charles.
Edwin Mullis is also licensed as a well contractor and pump installer. Each member of the Mullis family is dedicated to preserving the family’s heritage and stellar reputation in the residential, commercial, and industrial water business.
